Guanella Preethi Nivas located at Geddalahalli, Bangalore-77, is a charitable institution under the registered society (The Guanellian Society, No. 121/87). It aims at serving the poor and needy people especially the aged and orphans. At present in this locality of Geddalahalli Hennur region it exercises charitable activities in various ways possible such as Don Guanella Home for the Aged, Guanella Oratory for Children, Guanella Youth, Guanella Tuition Center (boys and girls) and Open House Ministry for the Aged People.
Don Guanella Home for the Aged has been a home from 2007 for the abandoned people who have no one to care. In this home there are ten elderly residents at present and 40 non residents who are given nutrition and medical care. We are taking measures to increase the number of residents in the near future. This programme is run with the small helps of the nearby people.
Open House Ministry is yet another charitable programme for the aged during week ends. It aims at visiting the sick aged people around our locality and providing them necessary nutrition and medical treatment. This is done with the help of youngsters who are school and college students in our campus in view of preparing for this philanthropic mission.
Guanella Oratory for Children is a educational programme for the poor students. It aims at providing space for poor 200 children of our region so as to have socialization, entertainment and moral education along with nutrition and educational monetary help. We are able to run this programme with the support of some of the local friends.
Guanella Tuition Center (boys and girls) is an evening school programme. It aims at providing ambience for games and entertainment along with some nourishment followed by supervised study and regular classes for 50 poor children of our region.
Good Samaritan Ministry is another programme which aims at providing shelter and basic necessities to those who wander on the road side. Either we collect them or they are referred to us by the local people. After preliminary help we refer them for further follow up and treatment to the appropriate institutes.
We do all these type of charitable activities only with the help of the local people and above all with the bounteous help of God, the Almighty. We are also grateful to you for having offered us three domestic cylinders. At the same time, having three commercial cylinders, many a time we find it really difficult because, the expenses exceeded our limit and we suffer a lot. Hence, we kindly request you to take us into consideration and to help us in the possible ways.
Yours sincerely,
Fr. S.P. Visuvasam
